It’s a song written by John Lennon shortly before his death, “Now and then”. It should never have seen the light of day, but, thanks to artificial intelligence, it was recorded 53 years later.

Thursday, November 2, in London (United Kingdom), in front of the famous Abbey Road studios, a handful of fans gathered in the rain to listen live to what they thought they would never hear again. John Lennon’s voice, crystal clear, resonates 43 years after his death in a melancholy ballad. “John’s voice, it’s been so long. It’s surreal”, believes a fan. The original model is a cassette recorded by John Lennon in New York (United States) at the end of the 70s.

“Now and then”

After his death, his wife Yoko Ono offered it to Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr to finalize the song. They try without success. A few months ago, director Peter Jackson developed revolutionary technology for a documentary about the Beatles. He explains : “We have developed what we call demixing. From a simple mono track with artificial intelligence, we can isolate the voices and instruments.” The title “Now and then” tells of the end of a love, 53 years after the separation of the best-selling group in the world.
