On Saturday July 23, to teach children lifesaving techniques, first aid associations are organizing workshops on the beaches of Brittany. These preventive actions are important to anchor in the minds of the youngest the actions to be taken in the event of an emergency.
Several children surrounding a facilitator on a beach, so far nothing special in summer. Now, all these young people are here to learn how to give first aid. Those are the first aid rescuers who give these life-saving awareness courses. Children will therefore know what actions to take in case of discomfort or if they are stung by jellyfish. “The interest is really to empower children on the beach, that they are really actors of their summer and show them that they can act”explains Estelle Bruguierfacilitator.
These first aid activities are appreciated by children. “Like that (…) if someone in my family has a crisis, I can protect him, help him”says Adèle, a 10-year-old mini lifeguard. Parents are also won over by these initiations to first aid gestures. “I think it’s very good that they are doing the entertainment there, on the beach, because with the heat that there has been, there can be discomfort”comments a father.
