It is now the union members of five hotels who have ratified the agreement in principle to renew their collective agreement, in Laval, Sherbrooke and Montreal.
These are five unions which are part of the coordinated negotiations led by the Fédération du commerce, affiliated with the Confédération des syndicats nationaux (CSN).
Through this type of negotiation, the federation seeks to obtain a settlement in a first hotel, then to extend the provisions to other hotels, even if they are different employers.
The five affected by a regulation are the Hilton in Laval, the Delta in Sherbrooke, the Double Tree in Montreal, the Hyatt Place in downtown Montreal and the Faubourg hotel in Montreal.
The settlement obtained for the latter consists of increases of 21% over four years, including 10% in the first year.
Likewise, the agreements notably include an increase in employers’ contributions to group insurance, as well as improvements to vacations, i.e. a third week after two years and a seventh week after 30 years of seniority.
Elsewhere, union members of other hotels are on an indefinite general strike.
This is the case for those of the Pur hotel in Quebec and the Bonaventure and Marriott Château Champlain hotels in Montreal, the CSN said on Tuesday.
