An agreement in principle has been reached to renew the agreement for members of the Montreal Police Brotherhood (FPPM) for a period of five years.
This was announced by its president, Yves Francoeur, in a communication sent to members on Friday.
The agreement and the pension plan will go from 1er January 2022 to December 31, 2026, it was specified.
“Therefore, over the next few weeks, the lawyers will be busy drafting the final texts”, is it possible to read in the message to the members.
No information was given regarding the new terms of the agreement, which will only be revealed at the time of the first meeting to present the agreement.
A wave of resignations recently hit the ranks of the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM), reported The newspaper. Mr. Francoeur had then described this situation as “never seen”.
The low salary upon hiring or the lack of support from the City would play on the lack of enthusiasm of future police officers to work in Montreal, indicated the Fraternity.
