›Montreal Alouettes player and former teacher Christophe Normand faces charges of luring a teenage girl for sexual purposes, according to an article in the daily Voice of the East de Granby, published Thursday.
According to the text signed by the journalist Pascal Faucher, who reported the judicial denunciation, the 30-year-old footballer is accused of having communicated “by a means of telecommunication” with a person under the age of 16 “in order to facilitate the commission of an offense against him of a sexual nature, such as assault or possession of obscene material.
The alleged facts allegedly occurred on August 9, in Bromont, also reported the Voice of the East.
Normand was arrested by the SQ at his home in Eastman early Thursday morning, then appeared by videoconference from the SQ station in Waterloo, still in Estrie. He pleaded not guilty and was released on conditions.
In a brief statement sent Thursday evening, the Alouettes said they had “learned of the allegations concerning Christophe Normand”.
