The resignation of Luis Rubiales from his post as president of the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) and the replacement of Jorge Vilda by Montsé Tome as coach, following the affair of Rubiales’ forced kiss of player Jennifer Hermoso after the world title, were not enough for them. Many Spanish players, world champions, decided on Friday September 15 not to return to play for the national team and are demanding new in-depth changes at the RFEF. “The changes that have been made are not enough for players to feel safe, in a structure in which women are respected, where there is interest in women’s football and where we can give our best.”insists the press release.
By publishing their press release a few minutes before the official announcement of the new coach’s group, scheduled for 4 p.m., the internationals pushed the Spanish Federation to reject it.
