Taxes, purchasing power, retirement, immigration… So many issues that concern the French. The new Prime Minister, Michel Barnier, was the guest of the 8pm news on France 2 to discuss the political issues of his new government.

“The government will act, perhaps more than talk”Michel Barnier, the new Prime Minister, returned to the set of the 8 p.m. news to discuss the composition of his government and the questions it has raised: “I want to create an atmosphere with the government team that allows all initiatives and all energies to be expressed for greater cohesion and greater fraternity.” The Prime Minister also stressed: “We are not in cohabitation (…) The bulk of the parliamentary base that will support the government is made up of deputies and senators who have largely supported and accompanied the President of the Republic for seven years.”

“I am not going to increase taxes further on all French people (…) neither on the poorest people, nor on people who work, nor on the middle classes.” The issue of tax increases had indeed raised concerns among the French population. On the set, Michel Barnier also mentioned the ISF: “With the entire government meeting tomorrow, Monday, we will reflect on this solidarity effort in which the richest must play their part.”he then added: ““We need to make a collective effort to control spending.”
