Health indicators are panicking in Provence-Alpes-Côte-d’Azur. The incidence rate has now reached 888 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. In Vaucluse, it is even higher (893 cases per 100,000 inhabitants) with a positivity rate of 9.2% and a hospital pressure of 150% which means that all resuscitation beds are occupied by Covid patients.
All the establishments concerned, public and private
Faced with this situation which continues to deteriorate, the Regional Health Agency has decided to activate level 5 of its hospital response plan. The objective is to mobilize all means available to take care of patients in Provence-Alpes-Côte-d’Azur.
To achieve this, the ARS Paca asks all public and private establishments to “postpone all of their medical and surgical activities which do not lead to a loss of opportunity for the patients.“The following are guaranteed at this stage: access to primary care (samples and transplants, oncology, urgent targeted surgery) as well as close monitoring of chronically ill patients (diabetes, renal failure, etc.) and the Voluntary Interruption activity of Pregnancy.
Mandatory deprogramming to cope
The Regional Health Agency hopes that these deprogramming will allow “the opening of additional beds in critical care and conventional hospitalization through staff redeployments.“The establishments in the region that do not have Covid units or critical care beds are invited to come and strengthen the system. Note that medical evacuations are programmed to alleviate a little the situation of hospitals in general and intensive care units in particular.
