Alexis Sanchez carries OM, Montpellier thrashes Brest, Nantes fight back… rain of goals in Ligue 1 this afternoon

Rain of goals during the fourth day of Ligue 1. While Marseille did not spare Nice at the Allianz Riviera, four other meetings took place on Sunday August 28. Brest completely foundered at home against Montpellier (0-7), the Nantes, however badly embarked against Toulouse, signed their first victory of the season (3-1) while Lorient (2-1 against Clermont) and Troyes (3-1 against Angers) took advantage of their opponents’ exclusions to win.

The comeback: behind, Nantes subdue Toulouse

First victory of the season for the Canaries. Antoine Kombouaré’s men were scared but recovered well in the second half. While Zakaria Aboukhlal allowed Toulouse to open the scoring in the 15th minute, Nantes finally extinguished Toulouse’s ambitions in the second half. In eleven minutes, Evann Guessand, Mostafa Mohamed and Moses Simon found the net in turn. Brecht Dejaegere’s teammates, struck by the Nantes express hat-trick, fell for the first time after two draws and a defeat. “We can use this kind of (second) period for the next matches”underlined the Canary Evann Guessand at the end of the meeting.

The slap: Brest humiliated by the MHSC

Nightmarish afternoon for the people of Brest. Trampled by Montpellier at Francis-Le Blé, Michel Der Zakarian’s men suffered the worst defeat in their history at home (0-7). Passive in defense, they did not have a shot on target in the game against the boosted Montpellierans, who were already leading by five goals after half an hour thanks to goals from Faitout Maouassa (6th), Wahbi Khazri ( 11th), Nicolas Cozza (25th) and a double from Elye Wahi (10th and 31st). In the second half, the ordeal continued for Brest with the exclusion of Pierre Lees-Melou for a foot in the air, before Valère Germain added a little more dirt (64th and 84th).

“It’s shameful what we did. The match is over, we’re all going to have to question ourselves,” reacted at the end of the meeting the Brestois Haris Belkebla.

The player: Alexis Sanchez, express adaptation

Arrived this summer in Marseille, Alexis Sanchez had fun in the South derby (3-0). Against Nice, the Chilean star scored his first two Ligue 1 goals. First perfectly served by Jonathan Clauss from the 10th minute, the ex-Milanese didn’t need anyone on his second goal just before the end of the first period (42nd). Meanwhile, Nuno Tavares had doubled the bet for the Marseillais (37th). A victory that allows OM to forget the incidents of the past year in this same stadium, and to take the lead in the standings before the clash between Paris and Monaco.

Doubled by Moffi in Lorient, first victory for Troyes

At Moustoir, Lorient won (2-1) thanks to a double from Terem Moffi (23rd, 41st). The Clermontois, at ten at the start of the second period, managed to reduce the gap (goal from Muhammed Cham on the hour mark). The Bretons remain undefeated in three league games.

Angers, traveling to Troyes (3-1), also evolved in numerical inferiority with the expulsion of Batista Mendy (21st) when they were already behind (realisation by Renaud Ripart in the 12th minute). The Trojans took advantage of this advantage to double the lead (Thierno Balde, 61st), before the SCO returned to a goal in stride thanks to Lois Diony (67th). At the end of the game, Adil Rami’s teammates scored a third achievement (Wilson Odobert, 82nd). A victory synonymous with the first success of the season.
