Yet another twist of events hit rebellious France on Sunday June 16. Adrien Quatennens has given up his candidacy in the North. His inauguration shocked even the ranks of the New Popular Front.
It was with a serious look and heads bowed that Adrien Quatennens and his team presented themselves to the press on Sunday June 16 for a decisive announcement. “I renounce my candidacy for the legislative elections of June 30 and July 7”, did he declare. A turnaround that he describes as a “sacrifice” for the New Popular Front and France Insoumise. Jean-Luc Mélenchon took note of this decision, he who had supported the outgoing deputy from the North until the end.
La France insoumise has already found its replacement in the person of Aurélien Le Coq, the national coordinator of young insoumises. It is officially supported by the Environmentalists. However, facing Adrien Quatennens, convicted of domestic violence, the feminist Amy Bah presented herself and received the support of the New Popular Front. A new imbroglio within the union of the left which could divide the votes in this constituency.
