Conservative judges intend to review cases on contraception, same-sex sexual relations and same-sex marriage. A turning point that worries President Joe Biden.

The Supreme Court’s decision on the right to abortion could be only the first of the battles that the ultra-conservative part of this body intends to engage in. “The Supreme Court also wants to examine three other very important cases. (…) The first issue is that of access to contraception. The second is that of sexual relations between people of the same sex. And finally, the hobbyhorse of the conservative right: the issue of same-sex marriage. It is an acquired right and has been protected since 2015“, explains journalist Camille Guttin, live from Washington (United States).

The three progressive justices, of the nine on the Supreme Court, “warn and explain that with a conservative majority, no gain, no right is really protected”, adds Camille Guttin. “We can expect anything. President Joe Biden himself also issued this warning, saying that the Supreme Court was taking an extreme path is dangerous. In the United States, it’s two very different visions which today seem to oppose and face each other“, she concludes.
