The court has opened an investigation for “apology for crimes against humanity and incitement to hatred on grounds of origin or religion“, following the distribution of anti-Semitic leaflets in a town in the Jura, the public prosecutor announced on Tuesday, June 13. The town hall of Clairvaux-les-Lacs had informed Sunday of its intention to file a complaint after the discovery of leaflets Addressed to “the white man” and mentioning “the Jews” in mailboxes in this town of 1,400 inhabitants.
In a message on Facebook, the town hall had admitted not knowing the author of the leaflets. “We strongly condemn the ideology which is pronounced clearly and which recalls dark times in our history”, added the municipality. In France, several other villages have been victims of the distribution of the same message, notably in Normandy. Near Rouen, several hundred inhabitants received it at the end of May.
