In Ohio, a man died after being violently arrested by police. The images are reminiscent of those of the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis in 2020.
That evening, police officers who entered a bar in Ohio (United States) came to arrest a man, Frank Tyson, suspected of being involved in a road accident. They are equipped with cameras on their uniforms. The suspect struggles. Frank Tyson resists and pleads with witnesses several times. He is then pinned to the ground and handcuffed. In the images, we see a police officer put his knee on his neck to control him. It was then that Frank Tyson uttered this sentence multiple times: “I can not breathe.” On the ground, the man seems to calm down. Five minutes later, the police realized that he was in fact unconscious. They try to resuscitate him. Frank Tyson was pronounced dead at the hospital less than an hour after his arrest.
A case reminiscent of the death of George Floyd
This case recalls the death of George Floyd, suffocated under the knee of a police officer. He too had said these words. In vain. The affair sparked protests across the country and provoked the movement “Black Lives Matter”, “Black lives matter”. This time, the police played the transparency card and released the video of Frank Tyson’s arrest. The two police officers were suspended and an investigation was opened.
