Running back Adrian Peterson was arrested Sunday morning at Los Angeles International Airport for domestic violence.
Peterson, along with his wife Ashley, were on the plane, which was about to take off for Houston, when he was apprehended.
The 36-year-old athlete was eventually released on bail after paying a $50,000 fine.
According to the ESPN network, which obtained information from a representative of the Peterson family, it would be a “simple misunderstanding, of a private nature, between a husband and his wife and the whole should be resolved under little”.
The running back has only seen action in four games this season, split between the Tennessee Titans and Seattle Seahawks. He carried the ball 38 times, going for 98 yards, in addition to registering two majors. He also caught all four balls aimed at him, for eight yards.
