For her first book, the 52-year-old actress evokes a difficult period in her life, putting herself in the shoes of her Maltese bichon, Gaston. An exercise that he enjoyed and did a lot of good.

Gaston the knight serving as mom. An actress, single mother, who fights for her two children. Everything is true and a little invented in this first book by Valérie Bonneton, which slips into the head of the dog Gaston. A crazy fantasy that makes you laugh and cry. “Gaston is a Maltese but who thinks he comes from the breed of lords. Gaston is madly in love with me, especially because when he meets me for the first time, I smell rib steak under my soles”says Valérie Bonneton.

A story inspired by a difficult time in his life. “I wanted, for a very long time, to tell this period which was very difficult. My four year old boy was sick, he had cancer, leukemia. Suddenly, the prism of the dog was a possibility to take the distance, to be able to express myself and to put humor, lightness“, she continues.

In the book, Gaston notably observes the absurdity of Man: “For example, he will not understand why, on a film set, we bring coffee to the main roles but for the others we will see later”.

Valérie Bonneton assures her, she is very happy and enjoyed the exercise.
