The seven jurors answered in the affirmative to the question of whether the title and two passages of a column, published in 2018 by the Washington Post, contained defamatory remarks with regard to Johnny Depp, according to the reading of their decision. Clearly, they felt that Amber Heard had made false statements by describing herself as a victim of domestic violence, and that she had acted “with malicious intent”. The jury awarded the actor $15 million in damages.

Jurors rule Johnny Depp’s attorney Adam Waldman made defamatory remarks when he called Amber Heard’s sexual abuse allegations a “set-up” in the Daily Mail newspaper in 2020.
“Disappointed in what this verdict means for other women”
The American actress said to herself “devastated” by the verdict against him. She said in a statement that “inexpressible disappointment”. “I am devastated that the mountain of evidence was not sufficient to address the far greater power, influence and ascendancy of my ex-husband,” she said shortly after the verdict was read in a Virginia court. “I’m even more disappointed by what this verdict means for other women. It’s a setback. It challenges the idea that violence against women should be taken seriously.”did she say.
Meanwhile, the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ star says the jury had it “brought back to life”. “After six years, the jury brought me back to life. I am truly touched”, the 58-year-old star said in an Instagram post.
