Actor Erik Jensen (The Walking Dead) announces he has very advanced cancer

Terrible news. Last Monday October 23, Scott Gimple, the screenwriter of The Walking Dead made an announcement regarding actor Erik Jensen. The show runner of the series has indeed announced that the interpreter of Steven Edwards was suffering from stage 4 colon cancer.

Via a tweet, the latter informed the news before referring Internet users to a GoFundMe page, an online fundraising site, in order to allow Internet users to be able to financially support Erik Jensen and his family during this difficult period.

“One of the members of The Walking Dead could use a little help. Erik Jensen, who played Dr. Steven Edwards in season 5, has just been diagnosed with cancer, and it’s a time of great uncertainty for him and his family. If you would like to send something, here’s how”, wrote the screenwriter.

An online prize pool

An online fundraiser which has already accumulated more than 600 donations. “After miraculously surviving a brain aneurysm just a year and a half ago, our beloved Erik Jensen has just been diagnosed with stage IV colorectal cancer,” can we read in the description of the prize pool.

“The cancer has metastasized to his liver, but Erik is young and strong (he made a film during chemo, and worked full time as a director and screenwriter) and his doctors have a chance of shrinking the tumors enough by two surgeries. We know he can pull through. […] If you are able to contribute financially to help your family through this ordeal, please do so.”

The principle of this prize pool is therefore to allow Erik Jensen to “hold on until next year, pay for medical treatment, keep your house and maintain some stability for Sadie [leur fille, N.D.L.R.]”. So far more than 90,000 dollars out of 300,000 have been collected to date.
