(Los Angeles) American actor Angus Cloud, one of the stars of the hit series Euphoria, died in July at the age of 25 of an “accidental overdose,” a medical examiner said Thursday.
“Angus Cloud died from a deadly mix of fentanyl, cocaine, methamphetamine and benzodiazepine in what is considered an accidental overdose,” a spokesperson for the County Forensic Medicine Department told AFP. Alameda, California.
“Angus suffered from acute intoxication linked to this mixture of drugs,” he said.
The actor played drug dealer Fezco “Fez” O’Neill alongside actress Zendaya in the series Euphoriaone of HBO’s biggest hits, winning multiple Emmy Awards.
He had had to deal with the recent death of his father and suffered from mental health problems, his family said when announcing his death.
“Angus spoke openly about his battle with mental illness and we hope this death will remind others that they are not alone and do not have to fight alone in silence,” she said in a statement.
Series Euphoria offers a dark chronicle of the lives of contemporary American adolescents, for whom drug addiction and sexual violence are part of everyday life.
The production was praised by critics, but also heavily criticized online, accused of glorifying drug use.
The soap opera allowed Angus Cloud to obtain his first role. He had been spotted by a distribution manager while walking with friends on the streets of Brooklyn, New York.
