Absent Sunday | Fields will not be able to set a floor record for a quarter

(Lake Forest) Justin Fields will not have the opportunity to break the rushing mark all season for an NFL quarterback.

Injured in the hip, he will not play Sunday, when the Bears will conclude their season by hosting the Minnesota Vikings.

He will be replaced by Nathan Peterman, coach Matt Eberflus said on Wednesday.

In his second season, Fields rushed for 1,143 yards – just 63 shy of the 1,206 mark set by Ravens’ Lamar Jackson in 2019.

This season, Fields has averaged 76.2 rushing yards per game.

The Bears (3-13) have lost their last nine games, the worst streak in team history.

Only the Houston Texans show a worse performance (2-13-1).
