ABBA group honored in Sweden

The four members of the Swedish pop quartet ABBA, which triumphed in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1974, are today receiving one of Sweden’s most prestigious knighthoods.

Agnetha Faltskog, Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson and Anni-Frid Lyngstad are awarded the Royal Order of Vasa as Commander First Class for their very distinguished efforts in Swedish and international musical life.

The Eurovision victory made ABBA a pop heavyweight, by far the most popular group to win the pan-continental music competition.

ABBA’s melodic disco pop has sold hundreds of millions of albums worldwide.
