A 26-year-old young man, originally from La Réole, died on Saturday June 1 in Bordeaux, after receiving a punch the day before, report franceinfo and France Bleu Gironde. The young man was initially declared brain dead. A fight had pitted him against another man near the course of the Marne. The suspect turned himself in directly to the police.
The police intervened shortly after 11 p.m. when the victim, aged 26, was in cardio-respiratory arrest. Emergency services managed to resuscitate the young man who was transported to hospital with a life-threatening condition. Around 4 a.m., medical staff declared him brain dead. He finally died on Saturday morning, police confirm.
According to the first elements of the investigation, the young man had come to town with a friend for the evening. A fight broke out with a third man over a sandwich. The latter delivered a single punch to the victim’s face. The two men did not know each other. Later in the evening, the suspect presented himself at the police station before being arrested and taken into custody.
