A worker died Wednesday January 5 in Saint-Denis (Seine-Saint-Denis) on the site of the future Saint-Denis Pleyel station of the Grand Paris Express, reports France Bleu Paris. The accident happened at 11:30 a.m. “A fall of material on the site would be at the origin of the accident”, according to the Société du grand Paris (SGP). Firefighters failed to resuscitate the man.

The worker worked for the Eiffage company. “We join in the grief of the family, relatives and colleagues of the deceased companion. The entire Grand Paris Express community is deeply affected by this accident”, declares SGP. An investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances of the accident.

This is the second fatal accident on this site. In December 2020, another employee of the Eiffage company was killed in La Courneuve, still in Seine-Saint-Denis, on the construction site of line 16. The future Saint-Denis Pleyel station is one of the largest SGP projects. Four lines of the future metro (lines 14, 15, 16 and 17) will run there from 2024.
