A train passed over a retiree who fell on the tracks in her electric wheelchair and she emerged almost unscathed from the accident, Swiss police reported on Wednesday. The accident occurred on Tuesday January 9 in the Kaiseraugst station, not far from Basel, in the north-west of Switzerland, said the cantonal police of Aargau.
The 70-year-old woman had “a lot of luck in his bad luck”, because it came to rest exactly halfway between the two rails, the police wrote. The train which passed over her therefore only slightly touched her.
The retiree was hospitalized, as was another person who was on the platform. She was slightly injured by parts of the wheelchair transformed into projectiles. The accident caused disruption to rail traffic at Kaiseraugst station for several hours.
