A woman arrested for criminal harassment against Catherine Fournier

(Longueuil) A woman in her fifties was arrested last week in connection with acts of criminal harassment which were perpetrated against the mayor of Longueuil, Catherine Fournier, the police department of the agglomeration of Longueuil announced on Monday. Longueuil (SPAL).

The police arrested the woman last Wednesday evening, who does not live in the town. The acts in question took place the day before at the municipal council meeting and concerned the management of the deer population in Michel-Chartrand Park, the police department said in a press release.

The woman was conditionally released and her file is in the hands of the Director of Criminal and Penal Prosecutions (DPCP).

The SPAL specifies that this is its fourth investigation concerning Mayor Fournier.

The police also invite citizens to be careful when speaking to individuals, recalling that harassment, threats and intimidation are criminal offenses.

Management of the deer population in the park has been controversial for years. A court finally determined last summer that the municipality could slaughter around a hundred animals. The procedures should begin next fall, Mayor Catherine Fournier announced.
