A woman arrested for alleged criminal harassment of the mayor of Longueuil

A woman in her fifties was arrested by Longueuil police for alleged criminal harassment of the mayor of Longueuil, Catherine Fournier, in connection with the management of the white-tailed deer population in Michel-Chartrand Park.

Many citizens have mobilized against the killing of white-tailed deer, which have become too numerous in this urban park according to the Longueuil authorities. Legal action was even taken to prevent the City from proceeding.

The woman in question was arrested on March 20 by the police, in connection with acts of criminal harassment that occurred during a meeting of the Longueuil municipal council on March 19, specifies the Longueuil agglomeration police department ( SPAL) in a press release.

The suspect, who does not live in Longueuil, was released under certain conditions and could be subject to criminal prosecution. The file was sent to the Director of Criminal and Penal Prosecutions (DPCP).

This is the fourth case investigated by the SPAL concerning the mayor.

The police force takes the opportunity to remind everyone to exercise the greatest caution when expressing themselves towards others, whether by post, on social networks, in person, or even over the phone. Harassment, threats and intimidation are criminal offenses for which the police regularly intervene.
