A tribute to Gilles Vigneault begins a new era at Domaine Forget

The Festival international du Domaine Forget, from June 24 to August 19, the first developed by Mathieu Lussier, will open at 4 p.m. on June 24 with a special concert The traveler, a tribute from the Violons du Roy to Gilles Vigneault. Mélanie Léonard will conduct orchestrations by François Vallières and will be surrounded by actors Marie-Thérèse Fortin and Normand Chouinard.

Mathieu Lussier, well known for his curiosity and his exploration of repertoires, wants to place the 2023 festival under the sign of openness and discovery. He was quick to develop the festival’s links with the Palazzetto Bru Zane, notably concocting a delicious program “Under the bridges of Paris”, on August 5, bringing together, among others, Méhul, Grétry and Augusta Holmes.

The Orchester Métropolitain and Yannick Nézet-Séguin will be in residence at the Domaine Forget as part of an orchestral conducting course and will offer two concerts on July 22 and 23: the first with cellist Jean-Guihen Queyras in the Concerto No. 1 of Saint-Saëns, the second with the pianist Charles Richard-Hamelin in the Burlesque by Strauss. As surprising as it may seem, this will be the first musical encounter between the conductor and the pianist.

Alexandre Tharaud, Benedetto Lupo, the Emerson Quartet, for his farewell tour, soprano Florie Valiquette, violinist Vadim Gluzman and conductor Julien Chauvin, who will conduct the Academy Chamber Orchestra and members of Les Violons du Roy in the Heroic Symphony by Beethoven are among the prestigious guests of this edition.
