The city of the train of Mulhouse welcomes since this Friday afternoon a legend: the number 1 engine of train 325 of the TGV Atlantique.

She holds two world speed records: 482.4 km/h on December 5, 1989 and 515.3 km/h on May 18, 1990.

She was commissioned in 1989. Her last trip dates back to December 10, 2018, she 11 million kilometers on the odometer. This motor is to be discovered since this Friday afternoon at the city of the train. She is now among many other rail legends, including a locomotive of the TGV Sud Est. There is also an ongoing exhibition on the history of high speed.

She was brought in exceptional convoy from the SNCF workshops based in Ambronay in Ain to Mulhouse. With a crane, it had to be put on the bogies, in other words on its wheels, before installing it on a turntable of the city of the train.

The total is nearly 78 tons, it was a long and delicate operation. A special animation around this engine and its double speed record will be organized next May 18 at the city of the train, to celebrate this arrival.
