A suspect was arrested after the discovery of a racist tag on Sunday April 29 in Albi, reports France Bleu Occitanie. It was the prefect of Tarn who announced this arrest. “Foreign rapists outside” is the inscription found on the road, in the city center on the Albi marathon route. The prefect reacted at the end of the day to condemn the facts. He asks “exemplary legal sanctions against the individual arrested today”. In a press release sent to the Radio France agency, the prefect said “strongly condemn the racist inscriptions made by Patria Albigès”.

The Patria Albiges group posted a photo on Instagram on Sunday where we see large white letters painted on the road “Foreign rapists outside”. The Patria Albigès publication also specifies the name of the far-right activist: “Paul, 20, is currently in police custody. He is being questioned in connection with potential proceedings for public insults based on ethnic origin.” The Albi public prosecutor’s office confirms that an investigation has been opened without giving further details for the moment.

“It doesn’t surprise us but it worries us because it is the continuity of strong and visible actions that the Patria Albigès group is increasingly carrying out”reacts Bastien Alberty, member of the Vigilance and anti-fascist union initiatives association (Visa 81).
