Aïcirits-Camou-Suhast is a group of three municipalities which is just over 50 kilometers from Bayonne. It is a very dynamic village with many things to visit but also activities for all ages all year round.
The Denena Inn
Open for about ten years, the Auberge Denena is a hotel restaurant in which life is good and which brings the whole village to life. Jean-Philippe and Krystel invite you there for a meal with local products and family cuisine on the menu or à la carte. Together, they, in their own way, brought the village back to life when, 10 years ago, on the initiative of the town hall, they came from the Paris region to set up this business.
The castle of Camou
First in wood and then rebuilt in stone, the fortified house, called Château de Camou, has survived the centuries to offer you exhibitions on sharecropping as well as agricultural life. An association takes care today of making visits to this castle which now belongs to the town. Don’t hesitate to make an appointment for a visit, it will be an opportunity to learn a lot about the village and the surrounding area with Louis Choury, a local history enthusiast.
The rural home association
Aïcirits is a very dynamic town with activities for everyone all year round. Juliette Supervielle, president of the association, likes to do good around her by setting up leisure activities that revive young and old.
The windmills
There are 4 mills in Aïcirits Camou Suhast which date back to different periods, but only one can be visited, it is that of Jean-Claude Maillarin. You have to make an appointment to be able to visit it. Do not hesitate to go for a walk along the old railway line to be able to observe the remains of these places steeped in history.
