The Kurdish PKK movement claimed responsibility for the suicide attack that occurred on Sunday October 1 at the entrance to the Turkish Interior Ministry. Two members of the police were injured.

It was around 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, October 1 in Ankara (Turkey), when a gray vehicle stopped in front of the Turkish Interior Ministry. In images filming the scene, we see the first passenger get out of the car, gun in hand, and rush towards the entrance gate. He opens fire before blowing himself up. The second attacker walks through the dust raised by the explosion and is immediately shot dead by the police. The attack left two law enforcement officers injured.

The Kurdish PKK movement claims responsibility for the attack

Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Turkish President, condemns a terrorist attack. “The villains who threaten the peace and security of citizens have not achieved their goals and will never achieve them“, he declared. At the end of the afternoon, the attack was claimed by the Kurdish independence movement of the PKK. The same day, 400 meters from the explosion, the Turkish Parliament had to choose to validate or not the entry of Sweden into NATO – a country which Ankara criticizes for being too lenient towards the Kurdish movements, which the Turkish president regularly describes as terrorists.
