Two alleged traffickers were arrested during major searches in the Outaouais on Thursday, which notably led to the release of nearly 20 firearms, including a submachine gun, and 40 liters of GHB from the street.

Thursday morning, the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) visited the homes of Scott Carpentier, 39, and Louis-Philippe Gagnon, 28, located in Gatineau and L’Ange-Gardien.
The thirty police officers dispatched for the occasion seized a submachine gun, ten handguns, eight long guns and a bulletproof jacket.
The SQ, which was accompanied by the Gatineau Police Service and the Public Security of the MRC des Collines, also seized more than 40 liters of GHB, 25,000 methamphetamine tablets, 10 pounds of cannabis and $15,000 in cash. .
The police would have discovered the majority of the items at Carpentier’s home, according to our information.
No link with criminal circles has yet been established.
“It is under investigation for the moment,” said SQ spokeswoman Marythée Bolduc.

The two men were arrested in the morning. They are notably charged with possession of firearms and possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking.
The defendants appeared formally by videoconference Thursday afternoon at the Gatineau courthouse and will remain detained pending further proceedings.
Other charges should be added next week when the investigators have finished analyzing the entire search, said the prosecutor in the file during the hearing.

Louis-Philippe Gagnon
This is not Louis-Philippe Gagnon’s first appearance in court. He is awaiting two trials in 2023, including for unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of a forged document and identity theft. He had previously been convicted of assault with a weapon and breaking and entering.
Scott Carpentier pleaded guilty to a few drug offenses in 2015.
The two defendants will be back in court on December 9.
