A 29-year-old skier of Belgian origin died in a skiing accident on Wednesday January 31 in Savoie, reports France Bleu Pays de Savoie.

The accident occurred early in the afternoon in the Corbier resort, in the Sybelles ski area in Maurienne (Savoie). The 29-year-old skier died after violently leaving the slopes.
The Corbier rescue trackers intervened immediately. They found the victim near a blue trail. A doctor was airlifted to the scene. An investigation is open to determine the circumstances of the death. In mid-January, in the Chamonix-Mont-Blanc area, a skier who was progressing in an off-piste area was killed by an avalanche.
