In Mont-Saint-Michel, in the Manche department, a breeder of sheep from pre-salted had long ago obtained permission to build his wooden cabin, before the permit was finally withdrawn. The shepherd, threatened with expulsion, appealed. The decision is expected to be released Thursday, May 12.
This may be one of the last times that François Cerbonney brings in his sheep. The shepherd awaits Thursday, May 12 the decision of a legal battle that will have lasted nearly thirteen years. The dispute: his sheepfold, built in an area classified as “remarkable”, near Mont-Saint-Michel (Manche). “It is 980 m2. It is made to accommodate 350 sheep. It is a sheepfold in danger, a sheepfold to be defended”, explains the shepherd. The building was built on a fragile place, protected by the coastal law which aims to protect the coasts.
François Cerbonney built the sheepfold himself, in 2009, but without a building permit at the start. It was in 2011 that he obtained the document, which was then attacked in the administrative court and then canceled. A collective is organized around him for his defense. The Manche nature association is at the origin of the complaints against the building.
