A 71-year-old man was stabbed overnight from Friday to Saturday in Betton (Ille-et-Vilaine), north of Rennes, reports France Bleu Armorique. The victim, whose life is not in danger, was found Saturday morning, lying on the side of the road, near a roundabout. Two youths, aged 17 and 18, were arrested. An investigation is opened for “attempted murder due to victim’s sexual orientation” and “robbery with a weapon“.

The victim presented “six wounds compatible with the action of a knife” as well as facial fractures, according to the Rennes prosecutor’s office quoted by France Bleu Armorique. He received a total incapacity for work of 30 days.

Two young men were arrested in Le Mans (Sarthe) in the victim’s car. The oldest, 18, admits having stabbed the victim and explains his act by two reasons, the supposed homosexuality of the victim and the theft of the car, indicates the parquet floor of Rennes which requested his placement in detention.

The young man explained to the investigators that he had met the victim two days earlier, at night, in Rennes, and had agreed to a meeting the next day with her, reports France Bleu Armorique. The other young man arrested, aged 17, “is not concerned by the criminal acts mentioned” specifies the parquet floor of Rennes.
