After the incidents that marred the Champions League final at the Stade de France, the Senate points, Wednesday, July 13, a “chain of malfunctions” and “failures in preparation”. “Everyone was in their lane without there being any real coordination”judged the senator Laurent Lafon, by presenting the Senate report on the evening of May 28.
“The system put in place was first overwhelmed on a very specific point: the pre-filtering, located in the continuity of the exit of the RER B. (…) This failure is therefore due to the decisions taken by the prefecture of police”said François-Noël Buffet, chairman of the Senate law commission.

The analysis made by the Minister of the Interior Gérald Darmanin, who had blamed the fiasco on the massive presence of counterfeit banknotes and English supporters, “wasn’t the right one”denounced Laurent Lafon. “It was a partial and imprecise analysis.” For Francois-Noel Buffet, “the first statements did not correspond to the truth”.
