The collapse of a building in Paris on June 21 caused a second death with the death of a woman who succumbed to her injuries overnight from Thursday to Friday, we learned from a source familiar with the matter.

The body of another woman was discovered on June 27 in the rubble of this building in the center of the capital, blown by a powerful explosion followed by a fire whose origin remains undetermined.
In total, around fifty people were injured in the disaster and two of them are still seriously injured today, according to another source familiar with the matter. The collapsed building, listed as a historical monument, housed the Paris American Academy, a private school specializing in fashion.

Since Monday, the investigations have been entrusted to an investigating judge who must in particular investigate acts of manslaughter and breach of obligations and will have to determine the origin of the disaster.
The first witnesses heard by the investigators mentioned “a smell of gas”.
About sixty families remain deprived of access to their accommodation and are rehoused by social landlords, with relatives or in a hotel, the borough hall announced on Wednesday.
The mayor of Paris Anne Hidalgo announced on June 26 aid of 2 million euros to support the professionals and residents affected, assuring that “all the light will be shed on the conditions of this explosion”.
