Around fifty surgeons, anesthetists and nurses were sent as reinforcements on Thursday September 14 to Derna, the city most affected by the violent weather in Libya, aboard a Civil Security plane.

A second Civil Security plane will take off Thursday, September 14 at the beginning of the afternoon from the Istres air base (Bouches-du-Rhône) towards Derna, in Libya, franceinfo learned from the organization. Floods have left several thousand dead in this city in the northeast of the country.
On board this plane: 17 firefighters and rescuers. This is the rest of the detachment sent by Civil Security to Libya. It has a total of 53 staff: doctors, anesthetist surgeons, midwives, nurses and pharmacists.

Logisticians are also part of this workforce. Their mission is to set up the field hospital promised by France. The energy-independent structure includes an operating theater, 14 hospital beds, a maternity room, a pharmacy and an analysis laboratory.
It will be able to accommodate up to 100 patients each day. The caregivers there will provide disaster medicine, among other things. In total, 30 tons of equipment are sent to Libya, via these two air convoys, including 15 tons of medical equipment.
