As Israeli army bombings continue in Gaza, residents of the West Bank demonstrate against the Jewish state.
In Jenin (West Bank), even children demonstrate to denounce the bombings on Gaza. This city has long been a stronghold of the Palestinian armed struggle. After the Hamas attacks, the Israeli army increased raids in Jenin and carried out airstrikes. The destruction and assaults by the army are concentrated on the refugee camp. Several generations of Palestinians have grown up here since 1948 and armed groups, described as terrorists by Israel, are firmly established there.
“Israel declares war on us”
Even the most moderate political parties no longer believe in the peace process. “There is no longer any solution, they are bombarding us with planes and missiles (…) Today Israel declares war on us“, regrets Atta Abou Remaileh, head of Fatah for the Jenin region. The same evening, he was arrested again, accused of supporting terrorism. Since October 7, Israeli security forces have imprisoned more than a thousand of Palestinians. The risk of conflagration seems greater than ever in the West Bank.
