Météo France forecast dry thunderstorms on the night of Saturday August 13 to Sunday August 14, there was finally rain, at least on part of the gigantic fire. The latter has burned more than 7,000 hectares in the Landes and in Gironde has made little progress since Friday, but it is still in progress.

Update on the night from Saturday to Sunday
“We feared the worst with a dry storm and winds, which would increase the risks because they could bring down the pines, but fortunately we had this rain, which fell in abundanceassures the mayor of Hostens, Jean-Louis Dartiailh, this Sunday morning at 8 am. If there is only that, it may not be enough but it allows us to breathe a little and see the future more serenely.“
It rained over Hostens and at least part of the fire – which has a perimeter of 40 kilometers – but the firefighters remain cautious, they are waiting to know if the rain has fallen on the whole sector. This Saturday evening, the fire was contained but not fixed and a huge device was on its guard: 1,000 firefighters including 150 Polish firefighters who arrived as reinforcements.
