A psychological emergency unit was set up after the explosion on the Eurenco site in Bergerac on Wednesday August 3. Eight people were injured, one of them seriously, in this high-threshold Seveso-classified company. About 100 people who were working on site at the time of the incident were evacuated.
The Périgueux SAMU which coordinated the rescue and managed four SMUR teams, one from Bergerac, two from Périgueux and one from Gironde to take care of the injured. Eight were injured, one seriously in the lower limbs, the others suffered in particular tinnitus due to the explosion. A specific treatment was administered to them in agreement with specialists.
The SAMU also triggered the CUMP, the medico-psychological emergency unit, coordinated by the Vauclaire hospital to provide support to employees in collaboration with the Red Cross. This is a mobile unit made up of psychiatrists, psychologists and nurses who volunteer to intervene in crisis situations. They provided assistance to employees who were physically unharmed but shocked by the explosion. This mobile unit is still active this Thursday, August 4.
