This is one of the unexpected trends of the summer. The young, even the very young, take up fishing. The 13 Hours teams attended a workshop in Bas-Rhin. The idea: learn to fish and respect the fish and the environment.
At the water’s edge, only their faces betray their youth. Because in attitude, these young fishermen already have all the greats: concentration, patience. The 13 Hours followed these apprentice fishermen on their first cast. To accompany them in this discovery, Damien Martel. To 24 years old, he already has 20 years of experience. Of the ten young participants, some have already practiced a little.
For others, it will really be the first time. So you have to start with the basics, the equipment. “I studied in the environment, so it also allows me to have another approach”says Damien Martel, animator at the Bas-Rhin Fishing Federation. These workshops allow the federation to attract young people. In Bas-Rhin, 10% of members are under 18 years old.
