The organization, and more particularly its high performance director, Daniel Trépanier, was plunged into turmoil after a letter sent to the media as well as to several other political authorities, and signed by 121 people, denounced the toxic climate which has been there for several years.

“Over the years, I still managed to find my place, I spent thousands of dollars for my multiple competitions +- $25,000. I have witnessed injustice, favouritism, I have seen dreams clouded, I have seen Boxing Canada put obstacles in the way of promising, talented and dedicated athletes. I heard horrible, sexist and aberrant remarks, ”wrote Clavel, on his Facebook account.

The one who was a member of the national team between 2010 and 2017 was particularly virulent towards Trépanier.

“I saw Daniel Trépanier, gradually putting aside my trainer Danielle Bouchard (appreciated by all), preventing me from being able to have her in my corner in certain competitions such as the Canadian Championships and the Olympic Qualifications, added the one who is due back in the ring in July.

“That, he built regulations. François Duguay accompanied me, I adore him, but he is not my trainer. I have seen some coaches sent with the national team doing a lot more touring than “coaching”. I could go on like this for a long time, things have to change!”

“He is an extraordinary bureaucrat. He knows how to fill out papers perfectly, without the slightest error. He has an unparalleled knowledge of paperwork. He knows how to impress high-ranking people, investors and managers. He knows how to hide the reality through analyses, pictograms and figures.

“However, we have never made good boxers with a pencil pusher! For an athlete, it is anything but reassuring. He inspires everything but confidence.”
