A police officer from Amiens suspected of having committed several armed robberies around Chaulnes in the east of the Somme, has been indicted for “extortion with weapon”, learned France Bleu Picardie on Wednesday evening, from a source close to the investigation. He was taken into custody on Monday morning, a few hours after a new robbery, at the Carrefour Market in Chaulnes.
The 46-year-old man works at the Anti-Crime Squad (BAC) at the Amiens police station, according to information from France Bleu Picardie. He is suspected of having committed several robberies in recent months, presenting himself hooded, armed and alone in stores shortly before the opening to recover the cash.
The investigation must in particular determine whether this police officer used his service weapon to commit these robberies.
