The Montreal Canadiens will have to deal with a penalty of $1.17 million during the 2023-2024 season.
This was revealed by payroll expert and Puck Pedia database manager Hart Levine.
We will have to subtract this sum from the payroll of $ 82.5 million which the Habs would normally have.
This penalty is linked to the performance bonuses obtained by four players who are currently completing their three-year entry contract in the National Hockey League, namely Kaiden Guhle, Cole Caufield, Sean Farrell and Jordan Harris.
When a team uses the long-term injured list, the performance bonuses of players expiring their entry contract must be counted as a penalty on the payroll the following season. This was obviously the case of the Canadian, who was ravaged by injuries as we have rarely seen.
Here are the details of each bonus obtained, as provided by Levine at TVASports.ca.
