The town of Mont-Saint-Martin, in Meurthe-et-Moselle, is sounding the alarm. In the streets, Tuesday June 11, no public services are open. An operation to challenge insurers, who refuse to cover the municipality.
At recess time, no students are present. Tuesday June 11, the town of Mont-Saint-Martin (Meurthe-et-Moselle) launches an operation “dead city”. The objective: to alert people to their difficulty in finding an insurer. “This symbolizes what can be predicted tomorrow, that is to say the great difficulties in carrying out public service missions which are no longer covered by the insurance sector”explains Élise Augié, general director of services at Mont-Saint-Martin.
Like this primary school, all public buildings in the town are closed today. Users find the door closed. Last June, nine buildings were damaged during the riots which followed the death of young Nahel. The restorations cost 3 million euros. Consequence: no company anymore wants to insure this town of 10,000 inhabitants.
