“A miracle”: two engaged couples each survive a plane crash… on the same day

An Italian couple reportedly survived two plane crashes on the same day, about 40 kilometers apart, as the couple boarded two small planes flown by friends on Sunday.

“To be honest, for a while I feared the worst. It was truly a miracle that we were both alive,” Stefano Pirilli, 30, told the Italian newspaper “Il giornale di Vicenza” on Tuesday.

The unusual story would have occurred in Turin, Italy late Sunday afternoon, after the man and his fiancée, Antonietta Demasi, 22, joined two pilot friends for dinner and a tour of plane in their respective aircraft, according to local media.

Except that at the time of the return, while they would have boarded the ultralight motorized aircraft almost simultaneously, from two aerodromes, the aircraft in which the thirty-year-old was taking place would have experienced difficulties, only 200 meters from a runway. landing.

Due to a bad maneuver or a technical problem, it would have suddenly crashed in a field, continued the thirty-year-old, specifying to the Mail Online that mist and darkness had enveloped them shortly before.

“We were hampered by the weather and the time: the mist started to rise as the temperature dropped and then suddenly it was nighttime,” he told the British media. .

It was then that the second plane, a Tecnam P92 Echo Super, attempted to land about forty kilometers away, before ending up in a pole, injuring its two passengers.

The 22-year-old woman escaped with a fractured pelvis, while the pilot suffered serious head trauma, according to “Il giornale di Vicenza”.

“This was Antonietta’s first flying experience and I am very sorry for what happened. The day started so well and we both ended up crashing on separate planes,” the man lamented to the Mail Online, counting himself lucky that it wasn’t worse.
