The reaction of the authorities was rapid. A 14-year-old minor was arrested on Monday September 18 in a college in Alfortville (Val-de-Marne), for suspicion of transphobic harassment and death threats towards another 15-year-old student, in gender transition, the Créteil prosecutor confirms to France Télévisions. The arrested student is accused of having incited this schoolgirl to commit suicide on the social network Instagram.

The teenager did not know the victim and did not go to school in the same establishment, the prosecutor further explains. He was invited last week to an Instagram group in which there were several young people, including the victim. The latter’s father then reported the facts to the police station, which led to the arrest of the schoolboy. “All the institutions are linked so that things go as smoothly as possible in both establishments”reacts in The Parisian Luc Carvounas, the mayor of Alfortville. “There is a lot of kindness and solidarity around the young girl who is going through an ordeal.”

This case comes after several cases of school harassment and the suicide of Nicolas, a high school student from Poissy (Yvelines), a few days after the start of the school year. Before the rectors, thehe Minister of National Education, Gabriel Attal, requested Monday a “electroshock at all levels” in the fight against harassment.
