By qualifying Geneviève Guilbault of “worst minister of the Capitale-Nationale that we had”the Leader of the Opposition at Quebec City Hall said aloud what many are thinking quietly.
“The government does not respect Quebec, does not respect its capital, and that is very frustrating,” denounced Claude Villeneuve on Monday.
In the same breath, he protested against the fact that no one, within the CAQ government, is carrying the files of Quebec.
It was the day after the publication of an article in The newspaper where we learned that phase four of the Promenade Samuel-De Champlain was relegated to oblivion.
The Minister told the Log that the CAQ “had not made a formal commitment to do phase four”, but rather phase three. And that phase four, already reduced to a trickle, should be reviewed, reassessed and reconsidered.
Faced with the outcry caused by her declaration, among the elected officials of the capital, the minister ended up changing her mind two days after the publication.
We will do the project, she assured in a reversal as desirable as it is surprising.
Many blunders
Already very little involved in the defense of files in the greater Quebec City region, apart from the third link, the minister has therefore become a specialist in blunders, lately.
Mme Guilbault has also multiplied controversial and senseless statements about the tramway.
During the study of the credits of the Capitale-Nationale, last week, she refused to say if, during the council of ministers relating to the decrees of the tram, she had expressed her support.
However, nothing prevented the elected representative of Louis-Hébert from doing so, given that even the Prime Minister had made it known that he was going to “vote” in favor. She couldn’t seem less convinced.
little interest
Moreover, her improvisation and her ignorance of the files eloquently demonstrate the lack of interest she shows towards the region she is supposed to defend.
In the file of the increase in the standard on nickel, yet very controversial in Quebec, she did not deign to lift a finger.
The Port of Quebec was more proactive in siding with citizens to demand a postponement of the application of the by-law.
Legacy of 400and
Coming back to the walk, how could she have forgotten the importance of this great legacy of the 400and? How could she pound like this on the east of Quebec, swinging phase four in all nonchalance?
Everywhere in Quebec, the idea of restoring access to the river to citizens is enchanting. But doesn’t the east end of the city deserve better than a freeway?
The Minister never ceases to show her attachment to Chaudière-Appalaches and the “Saint-Augustin village” where she lives. We are still waiting for the surge of enthusiasm that she should have hastened to show in 2018 towards her national capital.
