A 37-year-old man suspected of being the author of one of the false bomb threats at the Palace of Versailles was arrested on Friday October 20 before being referred this Saturday, the prosecution told France Bleu Paris. A liberty and detention judge then decided to release him. The Versailles public prosecutor’s office confirms that he will be tried in immediate appearance this Monday afternoon.

Six false bomb threats in one week for the Palace of Versailles

The thirty-year-old is suspected of being the author of the fourth false bomb alert at the Palace of Versailles which took place on Thursday October 19. During his call, the suspect allegedly said: “The throne of Louis

Several other public places have suffered the same fate since the start of the week. Just in schools, at least”299 false alerts” have been recorded since the start of the school year, said the Minister of National Education, Gabriel Attal, on France 2, Thursday October 19. Several cities are concerned: Rouen, Tarbes, Grenoble, Saint-Denis, Rennes, Strasbourg and even Toulouse.

These bomb threats can arrive in two ways: either through the establishment team or via the government platform. The reaction of police officers or gendarmes to this type of situation is held in a very precise code of procedure, to be sure that the threat is serious, or not. With more or less long checks, the closing time can last between 1h30 and 3h30. This may lead to closing for the day.

The people who are at the origin of these reports face two years in prison and a fine of 30,000 euros.
