(Gatineau) A man was seriously injured after shots were fired Tuesday afternoon in Gatineau, in the Outaouais region.
No arrests have been made at this time, the Service de police de la Ville de Gatineau (SPVG) is still looking for a suspect.
Around 2:45 p.m. a call was made to 9-1-1 about shots being fired. An injured man was at the intersection of boulevards Saint-Joseph and Montclair, in the Hull sector.
Emergency services were deployed to the scene and the man, whose age is not specified by the SPVG, was transported to a hospital center and there is fear for his life.
The police department established a security perimeter to protect the crime scene and search for the suspect. “The Ottawa Police Service canine unit was called upon at the start of the police operation. This unit was eventually relieved by a canine team from the Sûreté du Québec, “said the SPVG in a press release.
The SPVG believes that the event is targeted. He said no other shots had been reported and the population was asked to avoid the area.
Around 9 p.m. Tuesday, the police force announced that the security perimeter had been lifted and that the area was secure.
The investigation is continuing. An update from the SPVG on the situation will take place on Wednesday morning.
